This course will discuss preventive dentistry products and regimens, including over-the-counter fluoride, professionally applied topical fluoride, casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate in gum and pastes, xylitol, chlorhexidine, iodine and sealants/surface protectants.
The course will also present current restorative materials and their clinical use in paediatric restorative dentistry. This will include amalgam, glass ionomer cements/resin-modified glass ionomer cements, resin-based composites, compomers, stainless steel crowns, resin-veneered stainless steel crowns and zirconia crowns.
There will be interactive discussion of the use of these prevention regimens and restorative dental materials/techniques including indications/contraindications, risk assessment and longitudinal clinical data. Specific case scenarios will be described and planned for appropriate intervention. |
