Wendy Bellis has over 30 years experience of working with anxious children and those who have special needs. Her two areas of expertise are firstly, behaviour management for children, and secondly the dental management of the autistic child. Following the completion of her dissertation in 1983 in child behaviour in the dental setting, she has been responsible for teaching Behaviour Management at a postgraduate level on the MSc/MClinDent Doctorate modules programme in Paediatric Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Institute in London. She lectures extensively on both these subjects nationally and internationally, contributing chapters to current and well known textbooks in general and paediatric dentistry. For the past 15 years her clinical work has almost exclusively been in the field of autism with these children now representing 90 % of her clinical case load.
